"When you have that kind of relationship, you stick with your person no matter what," Brown said, adding that Thomas's announcement seemed poorly timed and self-centered during Robertson's moment of defeat.

Brown acknowledged the difficulty of high-level coaching — the hours of film study and game planning that can crumble on fight night — but remained firm that airing frustrations on live television after a fighter's biggest loss crosses a line. He speculated that Thomas may have been blaming himself for Robertson's shortcomings or expressing frustration that his fighter hadn't executed the game plan, but emphasized that such conversations belong in private, not broadcast nationally. "I hope I wouldn't do something like that," Brown said. "It wasn't in great taste."
