Christian Leroy Duncan eyes UFC title shot with Brendan Allen win
Christian Leroy Duncan will headline UFC Vegas 122 against Brendan Allen on Saturday at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas, with a title shot squarely in his sights. Duncan, a 15-2 fighter based in England, is riding a five-fight winning streak inside the UFC with an 8-2 record there, highlighted by recent victories over Roman Dolidze and Jared Cannonier. Allen, a 27-7 competitor and current top-five middleweight, represents the next rung on Duncan's climb toward middleweight gold.
Duncan has methodically strengthened his resume by facing progressively ranked opposition. His path has taken him from a top-15 fighter in Dolidze to top-10 Cannonier and now to top-five Allen—a natural progression that, in his view, earns him a shot at former champions competing for Sean Strickland's middleweight title. Current champion Strickland faces complications in finalizing his first title defense of his second reign, with Nassourdine Imavov expected as his challenger. Former champions Khamzat Chimaev (who lost the belt to Strickland earlier this year) and Dricus Du Plessis (who holds two wins over Strickland) are also vying for another opportunity.
In remarks to MMA Fighting, Duncan outlined his ambition plainly: "We get a good performance this weekend, I don't see why not [a title shot]. Brendan Allen being Top 4, it puts us in that title contention section." He added that with victories over ranked fighters accumulating, "the natural progression from that would be a former champion." A convincing win over Allen would position Duncan as a legitimate contender and likely force the UFC's hand in granting him either a title shot or a No. 1 contender bout—contingent on how the title picture resolves and compensation talks conclude.
