Ronda Rousey Trains With Jena Bishop Ahead of Liz Carmouche Rematch
Jena Bishop is preparing for the biggest fight of her career with help from UFC Hall of Famer Ronda Rousey. The Professional Fighters League shared photos of Bishop training with Rousey ahead of her rematch against Liz Carmouche for the inaugural PFL women's flyweight championship at PFL Chicago on October 16 at Wintrust Arena.
This matchup marks a rematch of last year's PFL women's flyweight tournament final, where Carmouche defeated Bishop by third-round stoppage. Since that loss, Bishop has rebounded with consecutive victories over Borena Tsertsvadze and Ariane Lipski da Silva. Carmouche enters the bout coming off a submission win over Viviane Araujo in June.
The championship bout will crown the PFL's first women's flyweight champion and represents the promotion's first new title since its merger with Most Valuable Promotions. Rousey brings valuable perspective to Bishop's camp—she previously faced Carmouche at UFC 157 in 2013, when Rousey successfully defended her bantamweight title in her Octagon debut. The legendary fighter's involvement underscores the significance of this inaugural title fight and the elevated profile women's flyweight competition has gained in the PFL.
