Liz Carmouche rematches Jena Bishop for vacant PFL women’s flyweight title in October

Liz Carmouche will rematch Jena Bishop for the vacant PFL women's flyweight title on October 16 at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, the promotion announced Wednesday. The fight was originally expected to pit Carmouche against Dakota Ditcheva, who won her bout at PFL New York this summer and appeared positioned for a title shot. However, Ditcheva sustained fractures in both hands during her decision victory over Denise Kielholtz, sidelining her from immediate competition. Rather than delay the title bout, PFL opted to rebook Carmouche against Bishop in a rematch of the 2025 PFL women's flyweight tournament final, which Carmouche won by third-round knockout. Since that tournament conclusion, Carmouche has remained active, submitting Viviane Araujo with a guillotine choke in June. Bishop has also competed twice in the interim, earning submission wins over Borena Tsertsvadze in April and Ariane Lipski da Silva in June. PFL CEO John Martin explained to Ariel Helwani that the promotion did not want to delay the title fight while awaiting Ditcheva's recovery, making the Bishop rematch the logical alternative to keep the flyweight division moving forward.
