Uros Medic ‘embarrassed’ to be in the same room with Ian Garry
Uros Medic has launched a scathing critique of Ian Garry, taking aim at both the Irishman's fighting style and his public statements. Medic dismissed Garry as a "decision merchant" who has climbed the welterweight ranks through defensive, evasive tactics rather than decisive finishes, citing split-decision victories over opponents like Geoff Neal as evidence of his approach.
Beyond fighting style, Medic expressed embarrassment at Garry's recent podcast comments, particularly his claims that embracing his feminine side makes him more masculine and his belief that the world would benefit from female leadership. Medic took particular issue with Garry's marriage to athlete manager Layla, suggesting her career hinged on being married to a fighter and implying she would simply have married another athlete had circumstances differed.
"Every time he opens his mouth, it just makes me embarrassed to be in the same pool as him in the same room," Medic told Full Send MMA. Medic acknowledged that Garry wins fights but characterized his opinions as cringeworthy and out of touch.
Medic (13-3) is preparing for a home-crowd headline bout against Daniel Rodriguez (20-5) at UFC Belgrade on August 1 in Serbia. Meanwhile, Garry (17-1) faces a significantly higher-stakes assignment: a welterweight title shot against Islam Makhachev (28-1) at UFC 330 on August 15 in Philadelphia.
