Quillan Salkilld reflects on journey to UFC Vegas 120 main event

Quillan Salkilld will headline UFC Vegas 120 on August 8 at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas against Mateusz Gamrot, marking the unbeaten fighter's first UFC main event. Since earning his contract through Dana White's Contender Series, Salkilld has compiled a perfect 5-0 record in the Octagon, highlighted by four first-round finishes.

Now 12-1 overall, Salkilld reflected on his rapid ascent through the UFC ranks. "I just keep thinking if I was to tell the version of me two years ago that I am going to be headlining an event in Vegas on the UFC card, I would be ecstatic," he said. "I'm good at just enjoying the process. I'm just a professional showoff."

A victory over Gamrot (26-4), an established lightweight contender, would solidify Salkilld's status among the division's elite. The lightweight main event pits two fighters on divergent trajectories—a rising prospect seeking to prove his mettle at the top level against a veteran looking to reassert himself in the competitive 155-pound division.
