UFC 331: Casey O’Neill scores spectacular armbar submission after nearly being choked out

Casey O'Neill delivered a statement performance at UFC 331 in Los Angeles on Saturday, securing a spectacular first-round armbar submission against Eduarda Moura to silence any remaining doubts about her status as a legitimate flyweight contender.
Moura came out aggressive and caught O'Neill off-balance early with a right hand that sent her to the canvas. The Brazilian grappler seized the opportunity, maintaining top position and unleashing ground strikes before threatening O'Neill with an anaconda choke. O'Neill found herself in serious trouble but stayed composed, managing to escape the submission attempt.
From there, O'Neill turned the tide decisively. She used her legs to elevate Moura and transitioned into a dominant armbar position. Unable to defend the submission, Moura tapped out at 3:22 of the opening round, giving O'Neill her second consecutive finish.
With the win, O'Neill improved to 12–2 and extended her winning streak to three fights, adding Moura to a recent résumé that also includes a finish of Gabriella Fernandes. In her post-fight remarks, O'Neill immediately called out top-10 ranked flyweight Maycee Barber, making clear her ambitions to climb the divisional rankings and compete at the sport's highest level.
