Raoni Barcelos vows to finish Raul Rosas Jr. in UFC main event: ‘He’s never fought someone like me’

At 39 years old, veteran Raoni Barcelos enters UFC Vegas 121 as the favorite against rising prospect Raul Rosas Jr., who will headline his first UFC main event in Las Vegas on Saturday, September 26. The headliner pits a grizzled campaigner with multiple regional titles against one of the promotion's most exciting young talents—and Barcelos believes his experience gap will be decisive.
Rosas Jr. remains unfinished in his professional career, with a 6–1 UFC record anchored by victories over Rob Font, Vince Morales, and other experienced opponents. His only octagon loss came via decision against Christian Rodriguez at age 18. However, Barcelos, riding a five-fight winning streak that includes victories over Cody Garbrandt and Payton Talbott, insists Rosas Jr. has never faced an opponent with his specific skill set. "He's never fought someone like me," Barcelos told MMA Fighting. The 39-year-old says previous opponents lacked the wrestling and jiu-jitsu pedigree to disrupt Rosas Jr.'s game plan, whereas Barcelos can threaten in all areas.
Barceloscoming off three or four five-round bouts in his RFA days, is confident the extended five-round format favors his experience and conditioning. He brings former UFC champion Glover Teixeira into his corner for the first time in nearly six years, reuniting with the man who introduced him to MMA. Barcelos trained with Teixeira in Danbury before moving his camp to Rio de Janeiro, and credited the legendary veteran with proving "age is just a number."
Barcelosboth declares his intent to finish before the final bell and eyes potential callouts of ranked bantamweight Mario Bautista or David Martinez should he prevail. He acknowledged that Rosas Jr., at just 21, may be facing his first true five-round test, but expressed respect for the prospect's preparation and maturity. Barcelos framed the bout as a statement opportunity to "shine" at the highest level.
