Michel Pereira removed from UFC roster after loss to Shara Bullet in Baku

Michel Pereira has been removed from the UFC roster following his unanimous decision loss to Shara Magomedov at UFC Baku on June 27. The 32-year-old Brazilian departs the promotion with a 10-6 octagon record compiled across two weight classes, having won only one of his final five fights.

Pereira completed his previous UFC contract with a split-decision victory over Zach Reese in February that halted a three-fight losing streak. He was subsequently offered only a one-fight deal to face Magomedov in Azerbaijan, which he ultimately lost via 29-28 unanimous decision.

The Brazilian has since contested referee Herb Dean's officiating in the bout, pointing out that Magomedov was not penalized for two instances of hair pulling or a later eye poke, despite Dean issuing warnings. Pereira argued that a point deduction was warranted under the circumstances.

Pereira's UFC tenure included a remarkable eight-fight winning streak during which he earned performance bonuses for first-round finishes of Ihor Potieria, Michal Oleksiejczuk, and Andre Petroski within a seven-month span. However, he faltered over his next three bights against Anthony Hernandez, Abus Magomedov, and Kyle Daukaus, beginning a decline from which he did not recover. His departure marks the end of an inconsistent run in the organization.
