Former UFC fighter Anthony Smith arrested on serious felony charges
Former UFC light heavyweight title challenger Anthony Smith was arrested in Sarpy County, Nebraska, on serious felony charges including terroristic threat, first-degree false imprisonment, and domestic violence causing serious bodily injury. Smith (39–22) remains in police custody following the arrest.
The charges carry significant potential penalties. Terroristic threat and first-degree false imprisonment each carry a maximum of three years in prison plus fines and post-release supervision, while the domestic violence charge carries a maximum of 20 years in prison.
Smith departed the UFC following a three-fight losing streak, with his final octagon appearance a defeat to Mingyang Zhang. The fighter known as "Lionheart" attempted a comeback in April, securing a submission victory under the Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA banner before his recent arrest.
