Raoni Barcelos’ coach shares medical update after scary UFC Vegas 121 fight ending

Raoni Barcelos is recovering after a frightening incident at UFC Vegas 121, where the Brazilian bantamweight lost consciousness during the main event clinch exchange against Raul Rosas Jr. in the fifth round. His head coach Davi Ramos provided reassuring updates on social media, confirming that Barcelos regained full awareness and is responding well to medical evaluation.
The UFC confirmed that Barcelos was transported to a Level 1 trauma center for comprehensive assessment. Following a CT scan and full workup, he was found to be stable, alert, and responsive with full movement in his limbs. "Raoni is doing well," Ramos said in a video posted after the incident. "He has all his senses, he's moving his leg, his arm, his hand, he's conscious, he's talking, everything is fine with him."
Ramos emphasized that Barcelos is undergoing standard medical tests and will require rest following the incident but expressed confidence in his recovery. The coach thanked supporters for their prayers and positive energy while acknowledging the unpredictable nature of combat sports.
The loss was particularly difficult given Barcelos' dominant performance through four rounds. He was up on all three judges' scorecards heading into the fifth, including a 10-8 advantage on one scorecard, meaning he was just over three minutes away from a decision victory. The result snapped his six-fight UFC winning streak. Ramos praised Barcelos' warrior spirit and technical skill, expressing confidence that the fighter will return to competition soon.
