Henry Cejudo makes Misfits Boxing debut next month

Henry Cejudo is stepping into the boxing ring for his professional debut. The former Olympic wrestler and two-division UFC champion has signed with Misfits Boxing to face influencer boxer Deen the Great on September 26 at the James L. Knight Arena in Miami.

Cejudo, 39, retired from MMA for the second time in December after losing a decision to Peyton Talbott at UFC 323. Since then, the combat sports veteran has explored other pursuits, including a return to competitive wrestling with Real American Freestyle. He is scheduled to rematch Merab Dvalishvili this Saturday at RAF 12 in Cleveland after losing their first encounter on points.

While new to professional boxing, Cejudo is not entirely inexperienced in the sport. He won the Arizona State Copper Gloves tournament in 2010, giving him a foundation as he transitions to the squared circle. His opponent, Deen the Great, is among the most prominent influencer boxers globally, with a 7-1 record in exhibition matches. Deen most recently competed in December at Misfits Mania, where he suffered a decision loss to Amado Vargas, son of renowned world champion boxer Fernando Vargas.

The bout marks Cejudo's first professional boxing match and represents another chapter in his multifaceted athletic career. At 39, the former UFC champion continues to test himself across combat disciplines, from wrestling to now professional boxing.
