Beyond the result itself, McMillen made headlines for a mid-fight gesture: he threw double middle fingers directly at Rahiki's corner while dominating on the ground late in the bout. The confrontation, McMillen later explained at the post-fight press conference, had roots in pre-fight tension. According to the fighter, Rahiki's coaches had pushed him earlier in the week—conduct McMillen felt crossed a line.
