Sean Brady spots major Carlos Prates weakness against Islam Makhachev

Sean Brady believes Michael Morales poses a far greater threat to welterweight champion Islam Makhachev than Carlos Prates, the frontrunners for the next UFC title shot. While acknowledging Prates' dangerous knockout power, Brady argues that Makhachev's grappling superiority will neutralize the Brazilian's striking advantage—a weakness Prates has already shown against ONE FC competition.

Brady (19-2) contends that Morales represents a genuine puzzle for the champion precisely because his ground game and conditioning remain untested at the highest level. "I think Morales will give Islam a harder time," Brady explained to Ariel Helwani. "I've gone back and done tape study on Prates, where I've seen guys in One FC take him down and beat him on the ground. I think Islam will be able to do the same thing, whereas with Morales, we still don't know how good he is." Brady acknowledged potential bias given his recent loss to the unbeaten Morales but maintained his technical assessment.

Morales (19-0) hasn't competed since finishing Brady last November, and Brady believes the prospect should face either Ian Garry or Shavkat Rakhmonov before earning a title opportunity. Meanwhile, Makhachev has already set his sights on Prates for his second welterweight title defense. Brady himself will return to action on November 7 against Gabriel Bonfim (20-1) at Meta Apex in Las Vegas.
