Ex-Jets LB wants the man who knocked out Gable Steveson in 12 seconds
Undefeated lightweight Anthony Wint has called out Sean Sharaf after extending his perfect record to 9–0 with an impressive 23-second technical knockout of Lucas Armand at UFC 332 in Salt Lake City on October 3. Wint targeted Sharaf, who holds a 5–2 record and recently captured headlines with a stunning 12-second knockout of Gable Steveson at UFC 331.
Wint made his callout directly to Joe Rogan during his post-fight interview, proposing UFC 334 at Madison Square Garden in November as the ideal venue for the matchup. At the post-fight press conference, the former New York Jets linebacker acknowledged that the flagship New York card may already be at capacity but emphasized his desire to fight in the Big Apple.
Despite the competitive nature of his callout, Wint stressed that no animosity exists between the two fighters. Sharaf previously gave Wint a ride from the UFC Performance Institute to his hotel, and the two had a positive conversation about their respective journeys in the sport. Wint recognizes that Sharaf's profile has surged dramatically following his upset win over Steveson, giving the potential matchup significant commercial appeal.
"We're in the business of sport, but we're also in the business of show," Wint explained, emphasizing that a clash between two undefeated or near-perfect records with fresh momentum represents excellent marketing and fan interest.
