Jamahal Hill trolls potential opponents ahead of heavyweight move

Jamahal Hill is already making waves ahead of his heavyweight debut, using humour and social media jabs to needle potential opponents in his new division.

The former UFC light heavyweight champion announced his move to heavyweight following a three-fight losing streak at 205 pounds. Since claiming the vacant light heavyweight title by defeating Glover Teixeira in 2023, Hill has struggled with consecutive losses and injury setbacks, prompting him to seek a fresh start among the promotion's heaviest contenders.

In a video posted to social media on Thursday, Hill showcased his trademark wit and competitive trash talk. The clip opens with Hill demonstrating exaggerated eye and back-of-the-head defence—a pointed reference to interim heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane, who has faced recent criticism for rule-bending tactics in his bouts against Tom Aspinall and Alex Pereira. Hill then stands atop a stool to simulate added height, a probable dig at towering heavyweight contenders such as Alexander Volkov and Tallison Teixeira.

The video also captures Hill making obscene gestures and performing a D-Generation X-style crotch chop, seemingly directed at heavyweight contender Josh Hokit and his controversial fighting style.

Hill's last outing came in June 2025, when he lost a unanimous decision to Khalil Rountree Jr. at light heavyweight. He is targeting a return in late 2026 or early 2027 for his heavyweight debut, giving himself time to adjust to the larger fighters and different dynamics at 265 pounds. The lighthearted callouts suggest Hill remains confident and motivated despite his recent struggles.
