Jan Blachowicz says Jamahal Hill looks 'fat' ahead of heavyweight move

Jan Blachowicz has criticized Jamahal Hill's physical condition as he prepares to move up to heavyweight, dismissing the fighter's recent weight gain as a result of poor diet rather than legitimate off-season muscle building. Hill announced his jump from light heavyweight after undergoing knee surgery, which has sidelined him until late 2026.

Blachowicz, a former light heavyweight champion himself, argued that injury and surgery alone do not explain Hill's substantial increase in size. "Did you see how fat he is right now? So, I'm not impressed," Blachowicz told Home of Fight. "I've had a lot of injuries and surgeries, and I've never looked so bad like him, so he just eats a lot of sh*t, I think." The Polish fighter suggested that Hill's lack of discipline in managing his diet during recovery is the primary culprit.

Hill won the light heavyweight title against Glover Teixeira in 2023 but was forced to vacate after an achilles tendon injury during pickup basketball. He has since suffered three consecutive losses. Blachowicz, meanwhile, has struggled with his own recent form, posting two draws and two losses since 2022. The former champion was scheduled to face Bogdan Guskov in a rematch at UFC Belgrade on August 1, but lost his opponent when Guskov accepted a short-notice fight against Magomed Ankalaev at UFC Abu Dhabi on July 25.
