Valter Walker says Josh Hokit won’t call him out for one reason
Valter Walker has called out Josh Hokit for what he believes is deliberate avoidance at UFC press conferences and media events. Walker, a 16-1 Brazilian heavyweight with five straight leg-lock submission finishes, noted that despite Hokit's recent verbal shots at Alex Pereira, Tom Aspinall, and Ilia Topuria, the undefeated American never mentioned Walker—a detail Walker attributes to intimidation.
Hokit (10-0) has made waves by portraying an aggressive heel persona known as "The Incredible Hok," a theatrical alter ego he claims possesses him during rants. Despite his provocative approach to callouts, Walker believes Hokit deliberately steers clear of him because the Brazilian would overwhelm him verbally at a press conference or media appearance. "Because he wouldn't be able to stand listening to me at a press conference or anywhere else, cause that character would go straight to f*cking hell when I start," Walker wrote on X, adding a dismissive epithet.
The timing of Walker's remarks coincides with Hokit's ascent toward championship contention. Hokit is scheduled to challenge Ciryl Gane for the UFC heavyweight title at UFC 334 on November 14 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Walker, meanwhile, has built momentum with his finishing streak and continues positioning himself as a heavyweight threat. Whether Hokit eventually addresses Walker's challenge remains to be seen.
