Christian Leroy Duncan sees path past Brendan Allen’s experience
Christian Leroy Duncan will headline a UFC card for the first time when he faces Brendan Allen at UFC Vegas 122 on October 10 at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas. The English middleweight, riding a five-fight winning streak, believes his rapid evolution and hunger will overcome the experience gap against the seasoned Allen.
Duncan (15-2) joined the UFC in 2023 after winning the Cage Warriors title and has compiled an 8-2 record in the promotion. Allen (27-7) has fought at the elite level since earning a Dana White's Contender Series contract in July 2019, posting a 15-4 UFC record. Despite the disparity in UFC tenure, Duncan is confident that his improving fight IQ will prove decisive.
"As much as I've been here now, three, three years, I still say I'm quite green and I'm still refining," Duncan said. "My IQ and my knowledge of the game is catching up to my athleticism and my physical ability now. This will come down to—yes, he has experience, but I have evolution and hunger on my side too."
Duncan's first UFC main event represents a significant milestone in his career arc, signaling the promotion's confidence in his trajectory. Allen, by contrast, remains a test of Duncan's readiness for genuine contention in a competitive middleweight division. The bout pits proven experience against ascending talent—a narrative familiar to the sport's perennial talent assessment.
