Court McGee explains why retirement is the last thing on his mind ahead of his final fight at UFC 332

Court McGee is set to retire after UFC 332 this Saturday, but the 41-year-old veteran insists that thoughts of hanging up his gloves are not dominating his mindset heading into the bout. McGee told MMA Fighting that he has learned through his long career to stay focused on what is directly in front of him rather than looking ahead to life after fighting.
"I've been in this game a long time. I don't ever think past what's directly in front of me," McGee explained, noting he still has weight to make and extensive preparation ahead of the fight. Despite the retirement narrative surrounding his final octagon appearance, McGee has approached his training camp with the same structure and discipline he has applied to every other fight. He emphasized the intensity of his conditioning work and the quality of his sparring partners and training partners.
McGee rejected the idea of treating this fight differently than any other, saying his strategy remains "business as usual." He dismissed the common approach of some retiring fighters who attempt new techniques or "leave it all in the cage" simply because they know there will be no tomorrow. Instead, McGee has stuck to his proven process: structured practice sessions, regular consultation with his coaches and cornermen, and rigorous preparation. His training camp has been productive, with eight teammates competing three weeks prior and two more fighting this week, creating a challenging environment for his final push toward the octagon.
