PFL New York fight card changes: Powell bout canceled, Nishimwe out
The Professional Fighters League's New York card at UBS Arena in Belmont on July 31 has seen two late-fight changes during fight week. The promotion's two flagship bouts remain intact: Usman Nurmagomedov defends his lightweight title against Archie Colgan in the main event, and Dakota Ditcheva faces Denise Kielholtz in the co-main event.
However, the main card has lost the scheduled light heavyweight matchup between Simeon Powell (12-2) and Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov. Powell announced the cancellation via social media without disclosing specifics, only stating: "It's one of those ones that's out of my control. It's annoying, but we've just got to keep moving."
The preliminary card was also affected when undefeated prospect Zacharia Nishimwe (4-0) was forced to withdraw from his light heavyweight bout against Moustapha Diakhate (5-0-1). The PFL is actively seeking a short-notice replacement to keep Diakhate on the card.
The event's remaining lineup includes Amru Magomedov vs. Angel Alvarez, Raufeon Stots vs. Lazaro Dayron, Jonathan Piersma vs. Omar El Dafrawy, Sean Gauci vs. Allan Begosso, Jamelle Jones vs. Khabib Nabiev, Montana De La Rosa vs. Tatiana Postarnakova, and Chamy Delva vs. Levan Khabalaev. The main card airs live on ESPN at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, July 31.
