Dakota Bush has a warning for PFL lightweights after 34-second KO

Dakota Bush made an immediate impact in his Professional Fighters League debut earlier this year, recording a 34-second knockout—a statement performance that has positioned him as a rising threat at lightweight. Bush now returns to action at PFL Tampa on Saturday, August 22, facing Morquez Forest in a showcase bout designed to build on his explosive momentum.

After competing in Legacy Fighting Alliance and the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Bush feels the PFL—now merged with Most Valuable Promotions—is the right home for his career. "It just kind of validated what everyone around me already knew," Bush told Sherdog.com. "I believe I'm one of the best fighters in the world, I just needed a platform to prove it on, and the PFL has done that for me."

Despite his eye-catching debut finish, Bush is not rushing his ascent through the lightweight rankings. Instead, he aims to produce consistent, highlight-reel performances while building toward title contention. "My goal every time I step into the cage is just to have my best performance to date," he explained, emphasizing that stacking wins matters more than chasing quick finishes. Bush respects Forest's 8-1 record and CFFC pedigree but is confident in his overall skill set. "He's well-rounded, he does the right things, but I just think that I'm a better fighter all across the board," Bush said.

Beyond competition, Bush is motivated by his family—two children who look up to him. That responsibility drives his work ethic and refusal to quit when opportunities to take an easy way out present themselves. A victory over Forest could propel Bush into the rankings, especially with potential movement at the top of the division. "If we take care of business and do my job, there's no reason why I shouldn't be fighting into the rankings in my next fight," Bush said.
