Jan Blachowicz’s comeback faces a dangerous new threat at UFC Belgrade

Jan Błachowicz will face a late opponent change when he takes on undefeated Navajo Stirling in the co-main event of UFC Belgrade on August 1 in Serbia. The Polish former light heavyweight champion was originally scheduled to rematch Bogdan Guskov, but those plans fell through when Guskov accepted a short-notice offer to fight Magomed Ankalaev at UFC Abu Dhabi following Khalil Rountree's withdrawal.

Blachowicz, who insisted the opponent swap won't disrupt his preparation, expressed confidence in his ability to adapt. "I am doing this all my life," the veteran told reporters. "It's a new opponent. I have a lot of respect for him, but it's just another fighter who I have to stop. I don't think about this mess around because I don't want to waste energy for that. Okay, it's a new opponent; that's it. We do small changes and we are here to win the fight against him."

The bout offers Błachowicz a chance to end a troubling four-fight winless streak in the UFC. His last victory came in May 2022 when he defeated Aleksandar Rakic; since then he has accumulated three losses and a majority draw against Guskov in December. Stirling, by contrast, arrives unbeaten with a perfect 10-0 record, presenting a formidable challenge for the former champion's comeback bid.

Experience and composure under adversity have long been Błachowicz's calling cards, traits he'll need to lean on heavily against a surging young prospect hungry to prove himself on the international stage.
