Khamzat Chimaev seemingly responds to Namo Fazil’s claims of being jumped prior to DWCS loss

Khamzat Chimaev has weighed in on allegations made by fighter Namo Fazil following the latter's brutal third-round knockout loss to Kaik Brito in the Dana White's Contender Series headliner on Tuesday.

Fazil claimed after the bout that he was confronted by approximately 15 people he identified as Chechen during his weight cut, with two allegedly slapping him. UFC CEO Dana White acknowledged something occurred at the fighter hotel but declined to elaborate. Fazil attributed the incident to his loss, snapping an eight-fight winning streak.

Chimaev responded via social media on Thursday with a statement calling for the matter to be handled privately rather than through media coverage. "I just want to say that if something happens between two men, they need to sort things out between them self with out letting media make fitna between nations," Chimaev wrote. He emphasized unity among Muslims and expressed respect for Kurdish people while suggesting consequences follow disrespectful speech.

The exchange highlights tensions that occasionally surface around fighter hotels and weigh-in periods. Fazil, 29, had impressed observers with a second-round submission of Jake Babian at the Rousey vs. Carano MVP event in May, making the DWCS loss a significant setback to his UFC aspirations. Pre-fight confrontations involving groups of fighters can draw scrutiny from athletic commissions and the UFC itself, though investigations typically remain private unless formal violations are found.
