Tye Ruotolo to fight for One title in just his third MMA bout
Tye Ruotolo will challenge Christian Lee for the ONE Championship lightweight MMA title on November 6 at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, in just his third mixed martial arts bout. Ruotolo (2-0 MMA) is the promotion's welterweight submission grappling world champion and will step up in both division and stakes for the opportunity.
Lee (18-4) is a two-division champion who has won 13 fights by knockout and four by submission. He last competed in November 2025, when he stopped Alibeg Rasulov with knees in the second round. Lee has lost just one of his last eleven bouts and enters the matchup as a heavy favorite based on experience and track record.
Ruotolo's meteoric rise reflects ONE Championship's willingness to fast-track promising grapplers into title contention. Both of his MMA victories came by rear-naked choke in 2025, and he boasts an impressive 9-0 submission grappling record under the ONE banner. However, facing a seasoned two-division champion in only his third professional MMA bout represents a significant step up in competition and marks an unusual pathway to a world title in modern combat sports.
