Report: Former UFC middleweight champ to make commentary debut at DWCS
Chris Weidman, the former UFC middleweight champion, is set to make his commentary debut at Dana White's Contender Series Season 10, Week 5, on September 8 at Meta Apex in Las Vegas. Weidman will join analyst Laura Sanko and play-by-play announcer Dan Hellie in the broadcast booth for the five-fight card.
Since retiring from active competition, the 42-year-old Hall of Famer has built an extensive presence in combat sports media. He has become a fixture on UFC weigh-in shows and desk analysis segments, and his profile has grown significantly through appearances on Paramount's "Deep Waters" podcast, where he discusses MMA news alongside fellow fighters Dustin Poirier, Jorge Masvidal, and Din Thomas.
Weidman's last fight came in December 2024, when he suffered a second-round TKO loss to Eryk Anders. He finished his MMA career with a 16–8 record overall and 12–8 inside the UFC. Among his career highlights is his upset victory over Anderson Silva, ending the legendary striker's historic 16-fight UFC win streak—a record that was recently surpassed by welterweight champion Islam Makhachev. Weidman's transition to commentary represents another chapter in his post-fighting career within the sport.
