Jon Jones reportedly considered as potential foe for Oleksandr Usyk’s last fight

Jon Jones is reportedly being considered as a potential opponent for Oleksandr Usyk's final fight, according to comments from Usyk's advisor Sergey Lapin to Ring Magazine. Usyk recently vacated his IBA, WBC, and WBA heavyweight titles but announced plans for one last bout before retirement.

The heavyweight boxing matchup would represent a significant crossover scenario. Jones (28–1) retired from the UFC last year as a two-division champion but has been contemplating a transition to boxing. After failing to secure a spot on the UFC's recent White House card, "Bones" publicly asked for his release from the promotion, signaling his willingness to pursue opportunities outside mixed martial arts.

Usyk, the former undisputed heavyweight champion, recently faced heavyweight kickboxer Rico Verhoeven in a controversial affair that saw him score a stoppage victory in the final seconds of the 11th round—a result that drew significant criticism. Lapin indicated that beyond Jones, Usyk is also considering former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder as a final opponent.

A Jones–Usyk fight would be a star-studded heavyweight clash between a legendary MMA fighter transitioning to boxing and one of recent boxing's most accomplished champions. The bout remains under consideration, with Usyk's team eyeing a stateside showdown later in the year.
