UFC Sacramento fight night weights: Gregory Rodrigues only weighed just 2 pounds more than Anthony Hernandez

Despite Gregory Rodrigues's reputation as one of the UFC's largest middleweights, he barely outweighed opponent Anthony "Fluffy" Hernandez for their five-round main event at UFC Sacramento. According to fight night weights released by the California State Athletic Commission on Monday, Rodrigues scaled 185 pounds at Friday's weigh-ins before rehydrating to 204.4 pounds—a gain of 19.4 pounds, or 10 percent. Hernandez, meanwhile, hit 186 pounds on the scale before adding 16.2 pounds to reach 202.2 pounds fight night, a 9 percent increase. The pair's nearly identical rehydration speaks to the extreme measures some fighters employ to cut weight before competition, a practice the commission has sought to monitor more closely in recent years.
The card featured other notable weight swings. Reinier de Ridder made his UFC light heavyweight debut after competing at middleweight, coming in at exactly 205 pounds Friday before gaining 16.8 pounds to weigh 221.8 pounds. His opponent Roman Dolidze scaled 206 pounds and added 20.2 pounds for a fight night weight of 226.2 pounds. Brazilian featherweight Marcio Barbosa posted the card's most dramatic rehydration, weighing just 145.5 pounds at the weigh-ins before jumping 25.5 pounds—an 18 percent increase—to 171 pounds. That surge left him nearly 20 pounds heavier than his opponent Ryan Kuse at fight time, illustrating the degree to which modern weight-cutting practices can create significant physical disparities between fighters nominally competing in the same division.
