Gregory Rodrigues admits glove grab, denies cheating vs. Anthony Hernandez
Gregory Rodrigues has addressed cheating allegations leveled by Anthony Hernandez following their five-round middleweight showdown at UFC Sacramento, which earned Fight of the Night honors. Hernandez accused Rodrigues of grabbing his gloves during grappling exchanges, but Rodrigues maintains the contact was accidental and inconsequential.
In comments to Sherdog, Rodrigues admitted to momentarily gripping Hernandez's glove during fence exchanges but emphasized he released immediately upon being flagged by his opponent. "It happened in the heat of the moment," Rodrigues explained. "As soon as he pointed it out, I let go. It wasn't something that stopped a takedown or had any decisive impact on the fight."
Rodrigues noted that Hernandez has privately acknowledged the incident did not sway the outcome. The two fighters have since crossed paths cordially, even posing for a photograph together. Rodrigues expressed respect for Hernandez and hope to train with him in the future, suggesting no lasting ill will from either camp regarding the disputed moment.
