Uros Medic hid knee injury before 30-second Daniel Rodriguez knockout

Uros Medic delivered a career-defining 30-second knockout of Daniel Rodriguez at UFC Belgrade while competing on an injured knee, ultimately earning a $100,000 performance bonus for the impressive finish. The Serbian-American fighter revealed he suffered a meniscus injury on the opening day of fight week but concealed the severity from observers and opponents alike.

During a routine warm-up session, Medic's knee dislocated unexpectedly. Though he managed to pop it back into place, immediate swelling began. Medical evaluation indicated the ACL remained intact, but the meniscus had been damaged. Declining pharmaceutical intervention, Medic opted for intensive soft tissue and deep tissue work aimed at reducing fluid buildup.

"We were just warming up and my knee popped out of place," Medic recalled. "I didn't feel any pain and I tried to straighten my leg out and it popped back in. And I could feel right away it started to fill with liquid, started to swell." Throughout fight week, he walked with a noticeable limp despite his efforts to conceal the injury. "I went into fight week limping, and I was begging God to not let people see me limping," he explained. "The fight itself was just routine work for me."

At 14-3, Medic has never heard a judges' decision and now owns a four-fight winning streak with all four victories arriving via first-round finish. The 33-year-old is expected to undergo a noninvasive surgical procedure for the knee injury with a projected recovery timeline of approximately one month.
