Darren Till says Ian Garry is 'fake' before Islam Makhachev title fight at UFC 330

Darren Till has criticized Ian Garry ahead of the welterweight title showdown between Garry and Islam Makhachev at UFC 330 on August 15 in Philadelphia, calling the Irish fighter "fake" and claiming he frequently damages his own brand through public comments.

Garry's latest controversy stems from remarks made on the "High Performance" podcast in which he said the world would be better run by women if men simply listened to them and ceded control. Till, speaking to The Mac Life, acknowledged Garry's talents as a fighter but expressed frustration with his public persona.

"I'm not a hateful guy. I don't hate Ian Garry," Till said. "But every time that guy speaks, he just absolutely tarnishes his brand. People can see and know a fake guy, and he's got fake written all over him."

Till, who has four daughters and credits the women in his life, stressed his support for female empowerment while suggesting that Garry's approach comes across as inauthentic—as if he is attempting to win approval rather than speaking genuinely.

Makhachev has also weighed in on Garry's comments, offering a different critique. The reigning champion told MMA Junkie that Garry should focus on training rather than giving interviews, and suggested that someone in Garry's household may be controlling his messaging. "He looks very bad in this interview," Makhachev said. "Better he does training more and less interview. It looks like somebody in the house controls him and tells him what to say."

Garry has drawn criticism in recent years for gym switches, personal allegations, and polarizing public statements, making the buildup to UFC 330 marked by personal commentary as much as fight talk.
