Din Thomas ‘ashamed and embarrassed,’ apologizes to Gillian Robertson

Din Thomas publicly apologized to Gillian Robertson after drawing criticism for his ill-timed comments following her unsuccessful UFC 330 title bid. Thomas suggested Robertson had reached her ceiling after being dominated by Mackenzie Dern, then revealed he was stepping away from cornering due to the emotional toll of fight week responsibilities. Addressing the controversy on "Deep Waters," Thomas acknowledged the timing was completely inappropriate.

"Saturday night was the most inappropriate time for me to bring up that I did not want to corner again," Thomas said. "It was completely irresponsible; it was despicable. I shouldn't have done it. I selfishly stole her moment that night."

Thomas reflected on their years working together and Robertson's journey from hoping to string together two or three wins to earning a title shot. He reaffirmed his support and apologized for making his personal decision public at her expense, saying he was "ashamed" and "embarrassed" but willing to own his mistake.
