Norma Dumont on Ailin Perez fight: ‘What I want to do without getting arrested’
Brazilian UFC bantamweight Norma Dumont faces Argentine rival Ailin Perez at UFC Vegas 121 on September 26, with genuine animosity fueling the matchup beyond typical fight hype. The personal feud between Dumont (13-3) and Perez (13-2) stems from a series of incidents that extend well outside the Octagon.
Perez recently posted a video accusing Dumont's boyfriend, UFC middleweight Marco Tulio, of looking at her while training at the UFC Performance Institute. However, Dumont's grievances run deeper. She claims Perez has secretly filmed her multiple times without permission and repeatedly tagged Tulio in social media posts until he was forced to block her. Dumont characterized Perez's behavior as a calculated campaign of mental warfare and uncomfortable social media harassment. Despite acknowledging Perez's gamesmanship, Dumont vowed to remain unfazed and let her fists deliver the message inside the cage.
"It's a fight that literally has a personal anger, a personal issue, that the two of us have against each other," Dumont told MMA Fighting. She emphasized that with the fight contract signed, she is focused solely on what she described as finally having the legal opportunity to address their differences. Dumont is coming off a decision loss to Joselyne Edwards that ended a six-fight winning streak. Perez, by contrast, is riding a six-fight winning streak since her UFC debut submission loss in 2022, making this a matchup between two fighters heading in opposite directions with serious motivation beyond typical competition.
