Kevin Vallejos rejects ‘robbery’ claims in Ailin Perez win
Kevin Vallejos has backed Ailin Perez's controversial unanimous decision victory over Norma Dumont at UFC Vegas 121, rejecting claims that the judges got it wrong. Perez and Dumont brought significant pre-fight animosity to their bantamweight clash at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas on September 26, but the bout itself proved underwhelming, featuring clinching and limited striking exchanges. All three judges scored the fight 29-28 for Perez, a decision that drew online criticism with many arguing Dumont deserved the win. Vallejos, a UFC featherweight, agreed with the scorecards on social media. "I agree, I saw the fight 29-28 for Ailin," he posted on X. "Impossible that it was a robbery. It was close in the 3rd round but I felt like Ailin made a bit more of a difference. She deserves to fight for the title." The victory extended Perez's winning streak to seven fights, the second-longest active streak in UFC women's bantamweight history. Dumont, meanwhile, has now dropped back-to-back bouts and took to social media to protest the decision.
