Gillian Robertson breaks silence on Din Thomas controversy
Gillian Robertson has broken her silence on the controversy surrounding commentator Din Thomas following her unanimous decision loss to strawweight champion Mackenzie Dern at UFC 330 in Philadelphia.
Robertson had no advance notice of Thomas's in-broadcast comments, she told Ariel Helwani. While Thomas later reached out with a private apology via voice message around 7:30 p.m., Robertson has not responded—citing subsequent remarks he made to her team that undermined the sincerity of his gesture.
The critical moment came when Thomas reportedly told members of Robertson's camp that his on-air statement was primarily a ratings play. "Me doing that publicly was more so for TV purposes and ratings," he reportedly said. That characterization led Robertson to question whether the apology carried genuine weight.
Despite the setback in her title bid, Robertson remains focused on her long-term goal. "As for now, I regroup, take some time to heal, and I will be back in the gym as soon as possible on the same mission," she said, signalling her intention to pursue another championship opportunity.
