RAF 11 Results: Colby Covington edges Arman Tsarukyan to claim inaugural crossover belt

Colby Covington claimed the inaugural RAF crossover championship on Saturday night in Milwaukee, edging Arman Tsarukyan in a wrestling-heavy battle to capture the first title under the promotion's crossover banner.

Covington, a former Division 1 All-American wrestler who retired from the UFC earlier this year to pursue wrestling full-time in RAF, leveraged his grappling superiority throughout the match. Tsarukyan, the undefeated face of RAF who entered 7-0 in the promotion, wore a cheese head to honor the Wisconsin crowd but found himself unable to overcome Covington's defensive wrestling and takedown acumen. The two engaged in numerous collar ties, snap downs, and arm drags, with neither gaining clean advantage in the early going.

Covington opened with a 3-0 lead after the first period, converting on a takedown late in the round while defending Tsarukyan's single-leg attempts. In the second, Tsarukyan briefly threatened with a single-leg takedown attempt that lifted Covington airborne, narrowing the gap to 3-2, but Covington answered with another takedown to extend his lead to 5-2 heading into the third.

Tsarukyan pressed with desperation in the final period, launching multiple takedown attempts from distance, but Covington's sprawl and front headlock control proved impenetrable. The match concluded 5-3 in Covington's favor, snapping Tsarukyan's undefeated RAF streak and crowning Covington the inaugural crossover champion.

Post-match, Covington praised Tsarukyan's future, predicting he would become the UFC lightweight champion. Covington then named potential title challengers including Belal Muhammad and Khamzat Chimaev, signaling his readiness to defend the crossover belt.
