In the immediate aftermath, Davis posted a now-deleted Instagram video lashing out at the UFC for retaining wrestlers while cutting other fighters, using inflammatory language he would soon regret.

Davis subsequently apologized to Aliev on social media, acknowledging that his outburst came from disappointment and fear. "In the heat of the moment, I was/am severely disappointed in myself," Davis wrote. "Disappointed in what I went through to help the @ufc by flying out here, while sick and injured… I respect that. I respect you. I apologize for what i said." He credited Aliev's sportsmanship and recognized his opponent's skill, though he clarified that frustration and concern about supporting his family had triggered his emotional response.

However, Davis has not backed away from his core criticism of the fight itself. He argued that Aliev controlled him through stalling rather than genuine wrestling, merely holding position from bell to bell without landing significant damage. Davis contended that in an entertainment industry, such a performance should not constitute a dominant victory and questioned whether the crowd found the bout genuinely entertaining. With two losses in his last three fights, Davis faces mounting pressure, while Aliev remains undefeated but has finished only two of his 12 career wins.
