Allan Nascimento dies at 34 after apparent heart attack, UFC mourns

Allan Nascimento, a UFC flyweight with a 22–7 professional record, died on Monday, August 3, at the age of 34 after suffering an apparent heart attack in his sleep. Medical responders found him unresponsive and were unable to revive him despite their efforts.

Nascimento began his combat sports career in muay thai in 2008, earning the nickname "Puro Osso"—Portuguese for "skin and bones"—due to his lean build. He transitioned to mixed martial arts and spent approximately a decade competing on the regional circuit before signing with the UFC in 2021. During his time in the promotion, he compiled a 4–2 record and was coming off a split-decision loss to Mitch Raposo in June.

The UFC released a statement mourning his passing, describing Nascimento as "much more than an athlete" and highlighting his character both inside and outside the octagon. "Today, our team loses much more than an athlete; we have lost a warrior, a friend, a dedicated competitor, and an extraordinary human being who earned the respect and admiration of all who had the privilege of knowing him," the organization wrote. "Allan inspired on and off the mats with his determination, humility, respect and fighting spirit." His gym, Chute Boxe, also paid tribute to the fighter. Nascimento's death is a sobering reminder of the unexpected health risks that can strike individuals regardless of their youth or athletic conditioning.
