Miki Motono overwhelms Satomi Takano with 50-plus Punches at Pancrase 366
Strawweight Queen of Pancrase champion Miki Motono retained her title with a dominant second-round TKO of reigning atomweight champion Satomi Takano at Pancrase 366 in Tokyo on September 23, 2026. The southpaw Motono (11-5) controlled the opening round with sharp straight left hands from her boxing, while Takano (20-15) secured a brief takedown after catching a kick but struggled in the exchanges. In the second round, Takano took Motono down again, but Motono reversed into a scarf-hold position and unleashed a devastating barrage of punches to Takano's face. Despite refusing to submit to two scarf-hold armlocks, Takano could not withstand the onslaught and the referee stopped the fight at 4:09 of Round 2 after she had absorbed more than 50 additional punches. Motono, who made her Pancrase debut earlier in the year, has now won three consecutive fights and previously held the interim Deep Jewels title in 2020. Takano's bid to become a two-division champion was ended by Motono's suffocating striking volume and grappling control.
In the co-main event, flyweight Queen of Pancrase champion Shizuka Sugiyama (25-8-1) closed out her 18-year career with a unanimous decision victory over Emi Fujino (31-17-1, 1 NC) in their 119-pound bout. Sugiyama, fighting for the final time, controlled much of the action on the ground and from top position across three rounds, while Fujino marked her 50th professional fight. All three judges scored the fight 30-27 for Sugiyama, who emphasized in her post-fight retirement speech that her eight career losses had been learning experiences that shaped her growth as a competitor.
Bellator veteran Chiara Penco (12-5) extended her winning streak to four fights with a split decision victory over former strawweight Queen of Pancrase champion Karen (10-4). Penco's reach and jab-heavy approach created distance, while Karen's leg kicks and clinch work kept the bout competitive. One judge favored Karen 29-28, but two judges scored it 29-28 for Penco, whose performance may have positioned her for a title opportunity.
Lightweight prospect Chikaya Suzuki (3-0) stayed undefeated with a split decision over veteran Kengo Fujimura (11-8-2), controlling portions of the fight on the ground while escaping Fujimura's submission threats. One judge scored it for Fujimura 29-28, while the other two returned 30-27 and 29-28 scores for Suzuki.
Catchweight fighter Tokumitsu Takagi (6-2), stepping in on short notice, earned a unanimous decision against Da Eun Jung (9-7) at 141 pounds, controlling the clinch exchanges and landing key strikes including a spinning backfist and counter right hook.
