Darren Till rips Ian Machado Garry: ‘He’s got fake written all over him’

Darren Till has joined a growing chorus of UFC fighters criticizing Ian Machado Garry, saying the welterweight contender's public statements repeatedly damage his credibility. Speaking to The Mac Life, Till acknowledged Garry's fighting ability but expressed frustration with his tendency to make controversial comments that undermine his personal brand.

Garry has become a divisive figure in the MMA community since entering the sport's spotlight, with numerous fighters publicly calling out his remarks. That scrutiny intensified last week when, during his media tour ahead of UFC 330, Garry suggested the world would be better if women held power—a comment that drew backlash from high-profile names across combat sports.

Till, a former UFC welterweight title challenger, said he bears Garry no personal hatred but views the fighter's public persona as inauthentic. "People can see and know a fake guy. And he's got fake written all over him," Till told The Mac Life, adding that Garry's attempts to gain favor through his statements often backfire. Till, who supports women's empowerment and credits his family as an inspiration, suggested Garry would benefit from adopting a more genuine approach.

Garry will challenge Islam Makhachev for the welterweight title in the UFC 330 main event next Saturday. Till, meanwhile, is scheduled to fight Yoel Romero in the BKFC 94 main event on September 24.
