Fatima Kline calls out former champion and former title challenger
Fatima Kline is making her ambitions known following a commanding performance at UFC Oklahoma City. The strawweight prospect earned a unanimous decision victory over Tabatha Ricci and is now targeting elite competition, specifically former champion Weili Zhang or former title challenger Tatiana Suarez.
At 26 years old, Kline (10-1) has compiled an impressive four-fight winning streak since her only professional loss came in her UFC debut in 2024. Two of her recent victories have come by finish. Despite having fought only five times in the UFC, she believes her dominant showing against Ricci justifies an immediate shot against top-tier opposition.
"It seems like everybody thinks my greatest challenge would be Weili," Kline told Ariel Helwani. "I think I can beat the best in the world, so I'd be more than happy to take that, but I could see Tatiana as well… After a performance like I had, I do expect it to happen immediately… I think skillset-wise I can compete at the top of the division. Sure, they might have more experience than me, but I don't think in any way they have more skill than me."
Kline's potential opponents bring substantial credentials. Zhang (26-4) captured the strawweight title for a second time in 2022 and successfully defended it three times before moving to flyweight. The Chinese competitor hasn't fought since falling short against Valentina Shevchenko in a flyweight title bid last November. Suarez (12-1) has rebounded with consecutive wins following her only professional loss, which came against Zhang in a strawweight title fight.
