Michael Chandler defends Conor McGregor: ‘He is not a quitter’

Chandler, a UFC lightweight and former Bellator champion, dismissed speculation that McGregor showed up compromised or unprepared. "You can say what you want about Conor, but one thing he is not, is a quitter, one thing he is not, is a bamboozler," Chandler posted on Instagram, emphasizing that McGregor's fighting style—which typically includes explosive striking combinations—would not align with someone looking to exit early. He acknowledged that the human body is inherently unpredictable and that injuries can strike even the most prepared competitors.

Chandler and McGregor have been linked for a potential matchup multiple times, including during their appearance together on "The Ultimate Fighter," though a scheduled 2024 bout between them fell through. Chandler expressed confidence that McGregor remains committed to fighting him, suggesting their negotiations fell through due to other circumstances rather than lack of interest. "I believe he wants to fight me," Chandler stated, indicating he remains optimistic about a future clash with the Notorious fighter.
