Bryan Battle earns split verdict in PFL Charlotte main event
Bryan Battle notched his first Professional Fighters League win at PFL Charlotte, defeating Dalton Rosta via split decision with scores of 29-28, 28-29, and 29-28. The 31-year-old middleweight fell to 1-1 in the promotion following his debut loss to Johnny Eblen and signaled his intent to remain active.
In the co-main event, Simeon Powell outworked Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov in a light heavyweight encounter, earning a split decision (30-27, 28-29, 30-27) despite a flush flying knee from "Wolfhound" in the opening round. Powell's superior striking and output proved decisive against the veteran, with the 10-years-younger English striker dominating much of the action.
Former Bellator standout Aaron Jeffery controlled Joshua Silveira through wrestling and clinch work in a featured middleweight matchup, securing a one-sided unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26). Lewis McGrillen-Evans returned less than a month after a submission loss to defeat Brandon Lewis via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28), bloodying Lewis's face with heavy punches and displaying well-rounded striking and grappling.
Additional main card results saw Josh Fremd finish Jhony Gregory with a punching flurry at 1:44 of round two. On the preliminary card, Denis Goltsov devastated Hasan Mezhiev with a head kick and punches just 52 seconds into round one; Cheyanne Bowers submitted Elora Dana with a rear-naked choke at 3:36 of round one; Landry Ward earned a split decision over Michael Boylan (30-27, 28-29, 30-27); Bruno Cappelozza won a unanimous decision against Valentin Moldavsky (29-28, 30-27, 29-28); Jonathan Martin took a unanimous decision over Wilson Lopshire (30-26, 30-25, 30-27); Maxwell Djantou Nana finished Eduardo Neves with a body punch at 2:01 of round three; and Trey Waters blitzed Trukon Carson with punches at 4:37 of round one.
