Bia Mesquita scores first-round comeback armbar at UFC Vegas 119

Beatriz Mesquita survived a rocky start to extend her undefeated record at UFC Vegas 119, submitting Melissa Mullins via first-round armbar and calling out top-five competition.
Mullins came out sharp and cracked Mesquita early with a left hook while her chin was high. Mullins attempted to capitalize with follow-up strikes, but Mesquita clinched to recover and ended up on her back with Mullins in top position. Rather than disengage, Mullins stayed active on the ground—a decision she would regret. After clearing her head, Mesquita unleashed her world-championship-caliber Brazilian jiu-jitsu, locking a tight armbar from the bottom and rolling with it until Mullins was forced to tap.
The victory kept Mesquita perfect at 8-0 professionally and 3-0 in the UFC, with all three promotional wins coming by submission. Post-fight, Mesquita called for a step up in competition, specifically targeting bantamweight contender Ailin Perez. "This is no place to shake your ass," Mesquita said. "I'm going to kick your ass, girl." Her combination of elite grappling, fight awareness, and finishing instinct positions her as a serious threat in the women's bantamweight division.
