Dana White discusses complicated relationship with mother after ‘disgusting’ book comments

UFC president Dana White has opened up about his fractured relationship with his mother, June White, revisiting the fallout from her 2011 unauthorized biography titled *Dana White, King of MMA*—a book he describes as containing deeply personal attacks and invasions of privacy.
During an appearance on *The Diary Of A CEO*, White recounted the incident that sparked the final rift between them. While traveling in London with business partner Lorenzo Fertitta, White returned home to find a series of escalating emails from his mother demanding money in exchange for her silence or positive coverage. "She wasn't getting responses because I was in London," White explained. "Then the e-mails started getting nastier and nastier... and I just f*cking blew up and that was the beginning of the end with me and her."
White acknowledged that the book's accusations affected him at the time, though he now refuses to dwell on it publicly out of respect for his deceased parents. He was particularly troubled by what he saw as collateral damage from her actions. "The thing that's bad about that and what she did is a lot of other people, I think she hurt in that book," he said. "A lot of things that aren't true and a lot of people that didn't do anything to her."
Despite the painful chapter, White credits his single mother with shaping who he became. June raised White and his sister Kelly alone after their father proved largely absent, eventually relocating the family across the country from Boston to Las Vegas. "She was a single mom, worked her ass off... raised two kids by herself," White reflected. "Even though we didn't talk to her for years, we credit her and respect what she did." Both June and Dana Sr. have since passed away.
