Khamzat Chimeav needs just 94 seconds to pin Tyron Woodley in RAF Moscow main event

Khamzat Chimaev made short work of former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley at RAF Moscow on Saturday, securing a pinfall victory in just 1 minute and 34 seconds of the main event catchweight wrestling match at 195 pounds.

Competing on the mat rather than in the cage, Chimaev's size advantage was apparent from the start, though Woodley—a two-time All-American wrestler from the University of Missouri—was not intimidated by the challenge. Early in the first period, Woodley shot first for a single-leg takedown, but Chimaev quickly shut down the attempt and forced a reset. A pair of push-outs gave Chimaev a 2-0 lead on the scoreboard.

As Woodley maneuvered to work inside for either an out-of-bounds reversal or a double-leg takedown, Chimaev capitalized on the opening. The Chechen grappler executed a sharp reversal, lifted Woodley into the air, and slammed him forcefully back to the mat. Chimaev controlled the position and pinned both of Woodley's shoulders to the canvas, prompting the referee to end the match.

After the decisive finish, both athletes showed mutual respect. Chimaev, who recently lost his UFC middleweight title to Sean Strickland at UFC 328 in May, is making a rapid ascent through RAF's wrestling ranks. He has already secured his next bout: a matchup against Gilbert Burns scheduled for RAF 13 in Miami on September 18. Woodley, meanwhile, now stands 1-1 in RAF following his debut victory over Joaquin Buckley in August.
