Four 'Performance of the Night' bonuses handed out at UFC Baku
UFC Baku delivered an evening of explosive finishes on Saturday at National Gymnastic Arena in Baku, Azerbaijan, with four fighters earning $100,000 "Performance of the Night" bonuses for their standout efforts.
Lightweight headliner Rafael Fiziev opened the bonus haul with a spectacular finish of Manuel Torres, landing a spinning wheel kick followed by punches just 15 seconds into Round 2. In flyweight action, Asu Almabayev locked in a kneebar submission against Charles Johnson at the 3:33 mark of the third round, securing his third consecutive UFC victory and taking home a performance award.
Light heavyweight saw one of the night's most impressive displays when Abdul-Rakhman Yakhyaev demolished Julius Walker with a knockout eight seconds into Round 1—a finish that ties for the second fastest ever at 205 pounds and ranks seventh in UFC history overall. Yakhyaev also collected a $100,000 bonus for the performance.
Welterweight closer Daniil Donchenko rounded out the bonus recipients after stopping Theodor Berggen with a head kick and follow-up punches 1:35 into the second round. The card exemplified the kind of decisive, exciting finishes that define premium UFC performances and earn fighter bonuses. Each of the four honorees walked away $100,000 richer for their efforts.
