One-time UFC title challenger Irene Aldana removed from UFC roster

Irene Aldana, a former UFC bantamweight title challenger, has been removed from the promotion's roster, MMA Fighting reported. The 38-year-old Mexican fighter held a top-10 ranking in the 135-pound division but has been inactive since September 2024, when she suffered a decision loss to Norma Dumont at the first Noche UFC card held at The Sphere in Las Vegas.

Aldana reached the title picture in 2023 following back-to-back victories over Yana Santos and Macy Chiasson. However, she came up short in her championship bid, losing a unanimous decision to Amanda Nunes in the main event of UFC 289 that same year.

During her time with the UFC, Aldana compiled an octagon record of 8-6 and notched notable wins against Brazilian veterans Ketlen Vieira, Bethe Correia, and Karol Rosa. Her departure marks the end of her tenure with the promotion.
