Jorge Masvidal teases ‘big news’ as UFC return talks heat up

Jorge Masvidal is signaling imminent news regarding his return to the UFC Octagon after an extended absence. The "Gamebred" veteran revealed that negotiations with the promotion are advancing positively, with financial terms moving closer to agreement. Masvidal indicated a potential return could materialize either before the end of this year or in early 2025, pending finalization of the right opponent and compensation package.

When asked about potential matchups, Masvidal expressed clear interest in facing Leon Edwards to settle an old rivalry. "I've been talking to the UFC," Masvidal told MMA Junkie. "Could be this year, could be early next year. We've been talking for a little bit and the numbers are getting closer and closer and better and better. So, there might be some big news coming soon… Once we get the right name and the right number attached to that, you'll see your boy right back here at the T-Mobile Arena."

Masvidal remains one of the sport's most marketable personalities, even without ever capturing UFC gold. His five-second flying knee knockout of Ben Askren in 2019 still stands as the fastest knockout in UFC history. The tension between Masvidal and Edwards traces back to that same year, after Masvidal knocked out Darren Till in London.
