Brandon Moreno makes candid ‘worst enemy’ admission after 2 UFC losses
Brandon Moreno is focusing on mental fortitude as he attempts to reverse course following back-to-back losses. The former UFC flyweight champion will face Joseph Morales in the co-headliner of Noche UFC 4 on September 12 in Glendale, Arizona, and has made significant adjustments to his preparation.
Moreno's recent skid includes defeats to Tatsuro Taira and Lone'er Kavanagh, but the Mexican fighter believes the key to resurgence lies within. "The Assassin Baby" has prioritized mindset work in camp, viewing mental resilience as critical to his comeback. "It's more about a perspective of my mentality," Moreno explained. "I think it's a really common problem in this sport. Like, sometimes you are your worst enemy. I don't want to put any excuses or whatever. I've been working on myself. I've been working on my mindset, my mentality."
Moreno also acknowledged the gravity of the matchup against Morales, recognizing that both fighters have much to gain or lose. "I am trying to defend my spot in the rankings and Joseph Morales is going to be super excited and super motivated to try to take my position as well," Moreno said. A win would help stabilize his standing in the flyweight top 10, while a loss could further diminish his title prospects. Morales, meanwhile, views the opportunity as a chance to elevate his own status against a decorated former champion.
